My experience at Cabo Azul Resort was incredibly peaceful and relaxing. This hotel has everything you need for a tranquil escape, and I would confidently recommend it to anyone seeking such an experience. The overall atmosphere throughout the resort is calm, with very few children around, making it ideal for those who want to lounge by the pool or relax with a good drink.
Arrival and First Impressions
The check-in process was seamless, and thanks to our connection with someone who has high-standing status, we enjoyed a VIP check-in experience. This involved a comfortable seating area and a complimentary shot of tequila, which added a welcoming touch. Even without the VIP perks, it was evident that Cabo Azul's staff prioritize top-tier service. The friendliness of the entire team was consistent throughout the resort—from the front desk to the pool staff, everyone was extremely kind and attentive.
Accommodation
We stayed in a spacious room that included a full kitchen, which was an excellent perk for preparing our own meals. The room also featured a large patio that spanned both the bedroom and living areas, offering a great space for relaxation. The room was impeccably clean, and housekeeping maintained this standard throughout our stay, which made it feel like a home away from home. The kitchen was equipped with a refrigerator, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and all the necessary utensils—everything needed for an extended stay.
Facilities and Amenities
The pools at Cabo Azul are definitely a highlight. They are expansive, well-maintained, and incredibly relaxing. We spent most of our time at the main pool, which featured a swim-up bar—a convenient feature for anyone lounging by the pool all day. At night, the pool water was a bit chilly, but during the day, it was perfect. There is also beach access with day beds available for rent, where the attentive service continues—guests can have food and drinks delivered directly to their spot. Although we didn’t spend much time on the beach itself, we thoroughly enjoyed the pools on a daily basis. The on-site gym was also a pleasant surprise, with enough equipment to ensure a comprehensive workout, even for those who lift weights regularly.
Dining Experience
We dined at the main restaurant for both lunch and dinner, as well as poolside, and the food was consistently very good. One notable dish was the BLT—it was substantial in size and tasted fantastic. However, the drinks were a weaker part of the experience. As an avid Old Fashioned enthusiast, I was disappointed that the bartenders were unable to make one properly. Eventually, we purchased some supplies from the in-house minimart and made our own cocktails, which worked out well enough.
Location and Atmosphere
Cabo Azul is located in San José del Cabo, which is about a 30-minute drive from Cabo San Lucas. This location worked well for us, offering a quieter setting while still providing access to nearby restaurants and the option of a day trip to Cabo San Lucas. During our stay, we visited Mango Deck for some lively fun and explored several local restaurants, adding a nice mix of experiences.
The overall atmosphere at Cabo Azul is very relaxing. Most of the time, the environment was quiet, and the background music—a mix of calming, meditative tunes—set a serene tone. Although there were occasional children present, the vibe was generally tranquil, and the resort offered a peaceful retreat from everyday life. There were also events and classes hosted by the resort, though we chose not to participate in them.
Value for Money
We were fortunate to stay here without having to pay due to our connection, but honestly, I would gladly pay to stay at Cabo Azul again. For those seeking a calm and upscale experience in a beautiful setting, this resort offers excellent value. This was actually my second stay at Cabo Azul, and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time. I am even considering returning here for my wedding! While there are other hotels I would like to try, they are significantly more expensive, making Cabo Azul an appealing option for its combination of quality and affordability.
